Here are some questions we often get about our full service video production:

What are the timelines for a video production project?

Generally you can count on a draft to review in two weeks after the production date where we’re all together gathering the footage. This varies a bit by project, of course.

From there, we can review the direction as well as any significant adjustments you’d like to make through the video editing. The finished product is usually another week or two after that point, making the total turnaround time around a month. Most projects wrap within 3 edits for a beautiful, high quality video showpiece.

How do payments work for video content projects?

We collect a 50% deposit to lock in the production date, or at least a range. We don’t necessarily have to know the exact date at that point, but we like to keep a narrow range of dates available for your project. As we deliver the finished video, the remaining balance becomes due.

For projects over $15k, we offer the option to handle the balance over 3 payments.

How will communication work throughout the project?

After getting a clear picture of what you’re hoping to accomplish in our initial talks, we create the magic on the production day. As we begin the video editing process, we’ll reach out to let you know. After our first round of editing is complete, we’ll send you screen captures of the highlights, which you can review.

For some projects we schedule a realtime review session with clients where we look at the timeline together and make edits. It’s truly full service, all the way to delivery of something you’ll be proud to show off.

Video Marketing Strategy

When you’re fleshing out your strategy, it’s helpful to consider the 3 main phases of a buyer’s process (often called the buyer’s journey).

  • The Awareness Phase. This is when the shopper is first aware they have a need, and begin casually searching for answers. It’s where you provide answers to questions and introduce your products to them as they familiarize themselves with what’s even out there.
  • Considering Options. At this phase, the shopper has likely seen a variety of potential solutions to their needs and are weighing pros and cons to pare down the options. This is where making your competitive advantages clear is important, where you’re not really answering basic questions but establishing maximum value for the shopper’s investment.
  • Decision-Making. This is where the buyer makes their final decision. At this point it’s less about questions or features, and far more about your reputation and tone. Which brand do they connect with most? Presumably at this point each of their top options have the right features and check the right boxes, so apart from price differences the buyer is looking at customer reviews and whether each brand “feels right.”

When you’re brainstorming your video content, begin by narrowing down which of these phases you’re primarily addressing. The video that will be effective will be fairly different depending on which you’re targeting.

Videos made for the first phase tend to be how-to’s, explainer videos, and friendly Q&A’s. You’re helping the buyer at the very beginning of their process to understand how their problem is generally solved and what they can expect, and hoping that your clear answers build some initial rapport and that they bookmark you, in a sense, as they continue their research.

In the second phase, the buyer has gotten savvier about how they can solve their problem and are now comparing features and pricing of the various solutions. This is where walkthrough videos, product demonstrations, and video tours come into play to highlight what your offerings do best.

Brand story videos make sense for the third phase, since here the last thing determining which of a buyer’s top choices they select will be the vibe. Industries can be pretty competitive in terms of features and pricing. Unless it’s an urgent situation where price is paramount, at the end of the day people make buying decisions because they feel better understood by one company than another. They feel good about the product and the company that makes it, and it makes buying the product feel good, too.

Thoughtful material can even appeal to multiple phases at once, shortening that particular shopper’s buying process.

We’re visual storytellers, and would love to help you craft something you’re proud to have embody what you bring to the table.
